About The Position

As a Haag Streit USA Assembler, you will be responsible for the production of high quality ophthalmic medical equipment and perform detailed assembly and operation of various equipment and machinery. Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalent required.
  • Assembly experience preferably 6 months in a medical or other regulated production company.
  • Ability to read, interpret and follow written procedures; understand and follow verbal instructions.
  • Able to follow wiring diagrams and differentiate colors.
  • Must be able to use assembly fixtures, soldering equipment, hand tools and power crimping and cutting machines.
  • High level of attention to detail to ensure product meets quality expectations.
  • Must have good manual dexterity.
  • Interpersonal skills such as conflict resolution, active participation, active listening.
  • Able to clearly communicate ideas, problems and solutions to all levels of manufacturing management in both written and oral form.
  • Work as part of a team having responsibility for assembling an entire product or component of a product.
  • Team Assemblers can perform all tasks conducted by the team in the assembly process and rotate through all or most of them rather than being assigned to a specific task on a permanent basis.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Build a variety of units and sub-assemblies (such as exam/procedures chairs, instrument stands, and medical cabinets) to work order specifications while meeting production schedules.
  • Assemble product using hand and power/hydraulic tools, examine connections for correct fit, and fasten parts and subassemblies into finished product.
  • Prepare work according to assembly instructions, blueprint specifications and parts lists; gathering parts, subassemblies, tools and materials.
  • Ensure that assembly work meets quality and precision requirements.
  • Maintain safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Use troubleshooting skills/interpersonal skills such as conflict resolution, active participation/listening, interpretation, cooperation and flexibility to allow for a successful team environment.
  • Maintain accurate records to ensure traveler / quality documents are accurate, traceable and quality issues can be addressed.
  • Positively represent and support the Company’s policies and procedures.
  • Participate in continuous improvement/quality initiatives in order to enhance production processes to achieve quality, productivity and profitability metrics.
  • Perform routine/preventative maintenance on applicable equipment to maximize efficiency, minimize accidents to enhance longer life of equipment and tools.
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing.
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of continuous improvement.
  • Work overtime as required including possible Saturday work.
