Assembler I

Elbit AmericaTalladega, AL

About The Position

Performs a wide variety of complex operations required to build, repair, rework, and align mechanical and electromechanical components, subassemblies, and final assemblies. Works from assembly method books, sketches, blueprints, and verbal and written instructions. Critical tolerance requirements (such as torque, backlash, tension end‑play, etc.) must conform to commercial, customer, and/or UL specifications. Performs a variety of operations involving the assembly and/or rework of complex wiring harnesses, PC boards, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies. Typical duties could include, but would not be limited to, those listed below.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret blueprints and electrical assembly diagrams
  • Basic mechanical skills to maintain equipment
  • Minimum of 6-12 months of related experience

Nice To Haves

  • Satisfactory completion of soldering school
  • Certification of calibration procedures

Responsibilities

  • Build, repair, rework, and align complex assemblies, such as multiple gear trains, chassis, and unit alignments that require constant monitoring and maintenance of critical tolerances.
  • Disassemble, troubleshoot, and repair sub-assemblies to achieve proper alignment and calibration.
  • Distinguish, identify, and correct problems of form, fit, or function in assemblies by using specialized techniques and knowledge acquired through a high degree of exposure in building assemblies requiring close physical tolerances.
  • Use multi-step fixturing to achieve proper drilling or alignment requirements.
  • Use gauges, micrometers, test equipment, and other measuring tools to check, adjust, calibrate, and align the angles and fit of assemblies.
  • Build, modify, or rework complex electrical assemblies, subassemblies, harnesses, or final assemblies.
  • Perform difficult touch-up and soldering techniques such as: soldering in small spaces or where the location of the component causes difficulty, soldering on a highly populated assembly where errors could cause extensive rework, soldering fine wires or temperature-sensitive and/or micro‑electronic components.
  • Maintain accurate logs and records.
  • Exhibit initiative and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Willingness to participate in a team environment.
  • Perform all subordinate tasks required to accomplish the above duties and perform other related duties as required.
