Position Summary: The Assembler I, Optics will perform mechanical, optical lens, electronic, and general assembly tasks in a fast pace dynamic manufacturing environment. This entry level position requires strong attention to detail and experience with pneumatic tools as well as general mechanical assembly aptitude. This position requires collaboration with internal team members, leads, and supervisors. FLSA: Non-exempt

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required, related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Typically requires 0-2 years of previous assembly experience, preferably in optical mechanical assembly.
  • May have limited proficiency of SSEO process knowledge.
  • Possess an understanding and knowledge of electronics and ESD.
  • Understanding of job routing sheets.
  • Able to follow written directions.
  • High attention to detail, with a focus on quality first.
  • Ability to be trained and certified on detailed assemblies, with a willingness to be cross trained in many tasks.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team with supervision, is self-motivated, and has a strong work ethic.
  • Communicate effectively to supervision regarding problems and corrective action.
  • Must be able to clearly, concisely, and accurately convey ideas and information to others, in English, both verbally and in written form.

Responsibilities

  • Read, interpret, and follow specific and highly detailed work instructions.
  • Operate torque tools, electric drivers, hand tools, and specialized optical equipment.
  • Follow safety protocol and guidelines and adhere to company policies and guidelines.
  • Learn to discern micron size debris in optical systems.
  • Identify and correct lens debris, digs, or other lens aberrations.
  • Perform visual inspections, quality inspections, and recognize workmanship defects.
  • Engage in continuous improvement projects and tasks.
  • Participate in and sustain 5S Standards.
  • Must follow all required Safety and ISO procedures.
  • Regular on-site attendance and punctuality is a necessary function of this position.
  • May be required to work in other functional areas and/or facilities depending on business needs.
  • May be required to work overtime or alternate shifts based on business needs.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
