About The Position

Silver Star Construction is seeking a dependable, safety-focused Asphalt Plant Operator to operate and monitor asphalt production equipment and systems. This position is responsible for producing quality asphalt materials while maintaining safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations. The ideal candidate will have experience working around asphalt plants, heavy equipment, or industrial production environments and be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Requirements

• Previous asphalt plant, aggregate plant, heavy equipment, or industrial operating experience preferred.
• Experience operating computerized plant controls is a plus.
• Mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.
• Ability to read gauges, meters, production information, and operating instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality materials.
• Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, drivers, and other personnel.
• Must be dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work independently.
• Ability to work outdoors in extreme heat, cold, dust, noise, and other construction-related conditions.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders and stairs, and work around heavy machinery.
• Must be willing to work overtime and varying schedules when required.
• Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment as needed.
• Ability to climb ladders, stairs, platforms, and access areas of the asphalt plant.
• Ability to work around loud equipment, dust, fumes, heat, and moving machinery.
• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Nice To Haves

• Experience operating computerized plant controls is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor asphalt plant equipment and computerized control systems.
• Start, operate, adjust, and shut down plant equipment according to established procedures.
• Monitor production operations to maintain proper asphalt mix quality, temperature, and consistency.
• Monitor and adjust material feed rates, aggregate, liquid asphalt, and other components as needed.
• Maintain accurate production records, load tickets, material usage, and plant documentation.
• Monitor plant gauges, meters, conveyors, burners, silos, screens, and other equipment for proper operation.
• Identify equipment malfunctions, unusual noises, leaks, or other potential problems and report them promptly.
• Coordinate with plant personnel, truck drivers, quality control personnel, and project management to maintain efficient production.
• Perform routine inspections, lubrication, housekeeping, and basic maintenance as assigned.
• Assist maintenance personnel with repairs, equipment adjustments, and troubleshooting when needed.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas around the plant.
• Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and environmental regulations.
• Assist with plant start-up, shutdown, and end-of-day procedures.
• Work extended hours, nights, weekends, or overtime as project schedules require.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
