Asphalt Plant Operator for Mobile Asphalt Operations
About The Position
Western Engineering Co. Inc. is seeking an experienced and safety-focused Portable Asphalt Plant Operator to join our team. This position will support mobile asphalt plant operations throughout Iowa and Nebraska, playing a critical role in producing high-quality asphalt for our road construction projects. As a Portable Asphalt Plant Operator, you will be responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining plant equipment while ensuring production meets project specifications and quality standards. Requirements
- Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate heavy equipment
- Knowledge of asphalt production processes, safety regulations, and quality control
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel to different job sites in Iowa and Nebraska
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high operational standards
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Pass pre-employment drug screening.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in asphalt production or as an asphalt plant operator is highly desirable
- Relevant training or certifications are a plus
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor portable asphalt plant equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent production.
- Control and adjust plant operations to produce asphalt that meets project specifications and quality standards.
- Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of plant equipment.
- Identify mechanical or operational issues and communicate problems to the foreman.
- Coordinate closely with paving crews, truck drivers, and Project Managers to maintain proper production and delivery schedules.
- Monitor aggregate, liquid asphalt, and other material usage to minimize waste and maintain efficient production.
- Maintain accurate production, material, maintenance, and equipment records.
- Assist with plant setup, tear-down, relocation, and startup of portable plant operations.
- Follow all company policies, OSHA requirements, and safety procedures.
- Participate in safety meetings, training, and equipment inspections.
- Perform other duties related to asphalt plant operations as needed.
