As a Full-Time Asphalt Plant Lab Tech at J T Russell & Sons, you will be responsible for operating various pieces of laboratory equipment while adhering to company procedures and strict safety regulations. Your daily tasks will include conducting regular functionality checks and providing preventative maintenance to ensure the equipment is safe and efficient. You will also be expected to regularly clean the equipment to maintain its quality and functionality, perform minor repairs, and report any larger repair needs to the appropriate personnel. Commitment to safety is paramount; you will abide by all local, state, and federal regulations and uphold company safety procedures by taking extra precautions. Would you be a great Asphalt Plant Lab Tech? To excel as a Full-Time Asphalt Plant Lab Tech at JT Russell and Sons, candidates should possess a Current Level 1 or Level 2 Superpave Lab Technician Certification and have at least 2 years of experience in this role. Strong proficiency in sampling asphalt mix from trucks, carrying 50lb asphalt samples, and operating a core saw is essential. Familiarity with pulling stockpile gradations, reporting documentation to NCDOT, and maintaining a daily record of QC activities is critical. Basic computer and algebra skills are required, along with good housekeeping abilities. A willingness to cross-train for plant and loader jobs, as well as travel to other locations, is necessary. A valid driver’s license is essential, along with the ability to lift up to 90 pounds, maintain alertness in a busy environment, and demonstrate keen attention to detail and situational awareness for safety. You should also be able to work collaboratively with minimal supervision and commit to a safe work environment. Knowledge and skills required for the position are: Current Level 1 or Level 2 Superpave Lab Technician Certification with 2+ years of experience Able to sample mix from trucks, carry 50lb samples, run cores, and pull stockpile gradations Reports to NCDOT, Roadway, and QC manager Assist with daily maintenance / repairs and willing to perform manual labor Asphalt plant experience preferred Are you ready for an exciting opportunity?
