Asphalt Plant Equipment Operator
About The Position
Banks Construction Company is seeking a dependable, safety-minded Asphalt Plant Equipment Operator to join their asphalt plant operations. This role involves operating equipment at plant facilities to move materials, load trucks, support crushing operations, and ensure safe and efficient production. The company operates three asphalt plant locations and requires flexibility for varying day and night schedules. Banks Construction is a third-generation, family-owned heavy civil and asphalt paving contractor focused on safety, teamwork, and quality work. The Asphalt Plant Division is crucial for supporting paving and construction operations by unloading stone, processing recycled materials, producing asphalt, and preparing materials for projects.
Requirements
- 1–2 years of experience operating equipment
- Experience operating loaders, trackhoes, skid steers, or similar equipment
- Comfortable working around asphalt plants, crushers, trucks, materials, and heavy equipment
- Flexible and available to work day or night shifts as needed
- Willing to work at plant locations in North Charleston, Summerville, and Walterboro as needed
- Ability to follow directions and communicate clearly with team members
- Takes safety seriously
- Dependable and shows up on time
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Willing to help with general plant tasks as needed
- Valid driver’s license
- Reliable transportation

- Previous asphalt plant, quarry, construction, grading, paving, equipment, or material handling experience
Responsibilities
- Operate equipment at asphalt plant facilities
- Load the asphalt plant and crusher
- Stack and move materials
- Load trucks with asphalt, aggregate, recycled asphalt, or other materials
- Operate equipment such as front-end loaders, trackhoes, skid steers, and other plant equipment
- Receive production and job information and perform work accordingly
- Communicate with plant team members to meet production and quality goals
- Complete basic equipment checks and help maintain equipment standards
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures
- Help with other plant facility tasks as needed
