About The Position

Asphalt paving crew needed for various positions including Screed Operators, Paver Operators, Roller Operators, Asphalt Rakers, MTV Operators, Broom Tractor Operators, Sweeper Skid steer, Lute, and general labor. Duties will vary based on the specific position. The role involves operating heavy equipment to lay and compact asphalt, loading and moving materials, and performing general labor tasks. The position requires working long, flexible hours, including nights and weekends, and potentially out-of-town overnight stays. Candidates must be able to work in various weather conditions and around noise, dust, heat, cold, oil, and heavy equipment. Safety and teamwork are essential.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in asphalt paving is preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • If required to drive a company truck, must be at least 21 years old with a clean MVR.
  • Ability to work weekends, nights, and/or out of town as needed.
  • Good work ethic, dependability, and ability to work as a team player.
  • Ability to perform heavy physical effort, including pulling and lifting or moving heavy materials (over 80 pounds).
  • Ability to continuously work around noise, dust, heat, cold, oil, and heavy equipment.
  • Ability to exchange ideas quickly and clearly.
  • Ability to receive and evaluate detailed information and instructions.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • A valid driver's license is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Load and move dirt, rocks, equipment, or other materials using trucks, rakes, or related equipment.
  • Operate heavy machinery such as pavers, rollers, and skid steers to spread, smooth, level, and compact asphalt and other materials on road beds.
  • Perform manual labor including raking asphalt, operating brooms, and general site cleanup.
  • Conduct documented pre-shift inspections of equipment to ensure safety and identify mechanical defects.
  • Observe the distribution of paving material and adjust machine settings or material flow as needed.
  • Align machines and equipment with reference stakes, guidelines, or ground, following hand signals from crew members.
  • Coordinate machine actions with other crew members' activities, responding to hand signals and audio cues.
  • Inspect, clean, maintain, and repair equipment using mechanics' hand tools.
  • Learn and adhere to all safety regulations and company policies and procedures.
  • Take actions to avoid potential hazards or obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, or falling objects.
  • Perform additional duties as required or directed by supervisors.
