About The Position

Lone Star Paving is a paving contractor operating in Central Texas, with paving crews and HMA, aggregate, trucking, milling, and quality-control operations. The company completes heavy highway and civil projects throughout Texas and emphasizes employee safety and health. The Common Laborer is an integral member of the paving crew, working with the team, foreman, and superintendent to help complete paving jobs to high standards. The role involves physical labor and asphalt-related tasks across a range of settings and environments.

Requirements

One year or less of experience.
Organized and detail-oriented.
Positive, friendly, and professional.
Able to work well with others in a group or one-on-one setting.
Adhere to the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements.
Use required personal protective equipment at all times.

Nice To Haves

Working knowledge of asphalt production and associated equipment, and understanding of operations and safety requirements.
Familiarity with OSHA regulations.
High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

Perform general laborer duties associated with asphalt paving, patching, or preparation crews.
Shovel, rake, and handle other small tools.
Clean equipment as needed.
Run small power tools when called upon.
Signal construction equipment operators to facilitate alignment and movement of materials.
Assist with placing, moving, and dismantling signs, barricades, cones, and other traffic-control devices.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Promote, execute, and adhere to the company's safety policy, and encourage employees, subcontractors, and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
Work safely and responsibly to avoid injury to oneself or endangering others.
Promote teamwork and maintain dialogue with employees to exchange information and gather ideas.
Collaborate with project teams on other special initiatives as required.
