APAC-Kansas, Inc., Shears Construction, is a multi-million dollar heavy highway contractor established in 1874, with multiple asphalt plants, ready mix plants, rock quarries, and sand operations in Kansas. Shears is diversified with public, private, and commercial work including paving, utility, dirt-grading, and concrete flat work. Requirements

Willingness to collaborate, assist, and support co-workers and supervisors in various duties.
Willing and able to travel for work, sometimes staying away from home.
Ready to tackle night shifts, weekends, overtime, and outdoor work in all weather conditions.

Arrive at work on time, prepared to take on the day’s challenges.
Successfully pass a pre-employment “Fit for Work” physical, drug screening, and criminal background check.
Demonstrate endurance in lifting, carrying, and manual labor tasks.
Able to provide valid I-9 documentation for employment eligibility.
Complete safe driver training and maintain a valid driver’s license (CDL preferred) with a good driving record that meets company standards.
Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) as outlined by OSHA/MSHA and company policies.
Must be at least 18 years old due to the nature of the work environment.

Responsibilities

Consistently adhere to all safety protocols and company policies.
Use the correct tools, equipment, and protective gear to ensure a secure website for yourself and your crew.
Collaborate with managers and co-workers in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.
Communicate clearly, solve problems, and help maintain a positive team dynamic.
Assist with shoveling, raking, and wheelbarrow operation.
Signal operators, facilitate the movement of materials, and follow directions for each unique project or job site.
Run small power tools (such as a jackhammer) and handle traffic control devices like signs, cones, and barricades.
Lift, carry, and position construction materials, tools, and supplies for maximum efficiency and safety.
Dig, spread, and level construction materials to prepare and maintain job sites.
Proactively communicate any concerns or issues to your manager to keep projects running smoothly.
Take on other duties as assigned, embracing new tasks and challenges with a can-do attitude.
