About The Position

Baldwin Paving Company, Inc. is seeking an Asphalt Groundsman to join their team. This is a full-time position based out of their Gainesville, GA asphalt plant, with the expectation that the candidate must be willing and able to work night shifts as needed and float between their Gainesville and Cumming, GA plant locations based on operational requirements. The role reports to the Plant Manager. Scheduled hours are 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends and overtime as needed. The individual will perform various duties within an asphalt plant to ensure operations run smoothly, maintain excellent housekeeping around the plant by shoveling, perform repairs as needed to plant equipment, and perform preventative maintenance to keep the plant running.

Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
Report to the assigned job site in proper attire and ready to begin work at the designated start time.
Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Safety Manual.
Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA and company policy.
Manual dexterity and strength in arms and feet to manipulate equipment controls, tools, and other items used to make adjustments and/or minor maintenance.
Will use hands, arms, back, and shoulders to handle, install, position, move items, and manipulate other objects.
Could be in a standing, bending, kneeling, or sitting position for long periods of time.

High School diploma or equivalent desired but not required.

Responsibilities

Assist the plant foreperson with the daily operations and upkeep of the plant.
Ability to access all areas of the plant to perform necessary maintenance and repairs.
Perform welding and fabrication duties as required.
Ability to operate a front-end loader safely and efficiently to move materials such as aggregate, sand, and recycled asphalt within the plant yard or job site.
Conduct pre-operation inspections, report mechanical issues, and follow all safety protocols and site procedures.
Ability to detect safety hazards and equipment malfunctions and respond accordingly.
Ability to follow directions.
Other duties as assigned.
