About The Position

This is a seasonal position, offering winters off while benefits continue year-round. The role is responsible for operating and maintaining a tack truck to spray bituminous asphalt cement oil on roadway surfaces. The typical schedule is Monday - Friday, 5:00 AM - 6:00 PM, with Saturdays as needed.

Requirements

General education, grammar and arithmetic, GED or high school diploma or equivalent.
CDL Class B license in accordance with all state and federal DOT/FMCSA regulations.
Must have and maintain medical card and acceptable driving record and required endorsements.
Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with difficult people under high stress situations.
Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous/respectful of others.

Nice To Haves

CDL Class A driver’s license
Ability to work flexible shifts, including overtime and some Saturdays.
Experience driving a belly dump, flow boy, lowboy, tanker or straight truck.

Responsibilities

Safely and properly operates truck equipped with oil or bituminous emulsions.
Connects hose from storage tank to truck tank and moves lever to fill pressure tank with bituminous liquid.
Regulates burners to heat liquid and starts auxiliary pump.
Drives truck at constant speed.
Completes load tickets.
Assists construction crews while waiting to unload.
Maintains proper information in truck cab pouch.
Inventory and order tac.
Cleans tac nozzles.
Barricades commercial parking lots.
Performs daily equipment, walk around and site inspections to identify and correct any unsafe conditions and keep equipment properly maintained.
Safely and properly performs maintenance (lubricating, fueling and cleaning) on oil truck.
Assists crews with flagging as needed.
Troubleshoots and problem solves situations/problems (material quality, equipment operation/repair, etc.).
Monitors and discusses production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors.
Ensures OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulation compliance.
Performs other duties as assigned.
