About The Position

This is a seasonal position, offering winters off while benefits continue year-round. The role is responsible for operating and maintaining a tack truck to spray bituminous asphalt cement oil on roadway surfaces. The typical schedule is Monday - Friday, 5:00 AM - 6:00 PM, with Saturdays as needed.

Requirements

  • General education, grammar and arithmetic, GED or high school diploma or equivalent.
  • CDL Class B license in accordance with all state and federal DOT/FMCSA regulations.
  • Must have and maintain medical card and acceptable driving record and required endorsements.
  • Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with difficult people under high stress situations.
  • Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous/respectful of others.

Nice To Haves

  • CDL Class A driver’s license
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including overtime and some Saturdays.
  • Experience driving a belly dump, flow boy, lowboy, tanker or straight truck.

Responsibilities

  • Safely and properly operates truck equipped with oil or bituminous emulsions.
  • Connects hose from storage tank to truck tank and moves lever to fill pressure tank with bituminous liquid.
  • Regulates burners to heat liquid and starts auxiliary pump.
  • Drives truck at constant speed.
  • Completes load tickets.
  • Assists construction crews while waiting to unload.
  • Maintains proper information in truck cab pouch.
  • Inventory and order tac.
  • Cleans tac nozzles.
  • Barricades commercial parking lots.
  • Performs daily equipment, walk around and site inspections to identify and correct any unsafe conditions and keep equipment properly maintained.
  • Safely and properly performs maintenance (lubricating, fueling and cleaning) on oil truck.
  • Assists crews with flagging as needed.
  • Troubleshoots and problem solves situations/problems (material quality, equipment operation/repair, etc.).
  • Monitors and discusses production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors.
  • Ensures OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulation compliance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
