About The Position

Pennoni is seeking an ASNT Level III/Inspection Supervisor to administer and maintain our nondestructive testing (NDT) program. This role is crucial for supporting Pennoni’s nondestructive testing and QA/QC inspection program. Responsibilities include training, testing, and certifying NDT Technicians, performing NDT, reviewing and writing NDT procedures, and supervising inspection personnel to ensure compliance with applicable standards and specifications. The position offers comprehensive leadership and oversight for QA inspection staff supporting DOT and commercial client projects at offsite fabrication facilities and project job sites. It also involves acting as a key technical resource, providing guidance on nondestructive testing, welding procedures, and fabrication/welding related issues, participating in prefabrication meetings, contributing to QA/QC planning and procedures, and mentoring inspection staff. The role also includes acting as a liaison between Pennoni, clients, and fabrication facilities, coordinating responses to client comments, audits, and technical inquiries, and supporting staffing and resource planning efforts, confirming documentation accuracy and compliance, and maintaining internal quality control records.

Requirements

  • High school diploma.
  • Minimum of eight years of nondestructive testing, welding, and fabrication related experience.
  • One to three years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining and administrating an NDT program.
  • ASNT Level III certifications (UT, MT, RT, PT).
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
  • AMPP Basic Coatings Inspector.
  • OSHA 10 safety training.
  • Strong technical knowledge of nondestructive testing ASNT requirements, weld specifications, and related codes such as AASHTO/AWS D1.5 and D1.1 welding codes, and the New York State Steel Construction Manual (NYSSCM).
  • Practical experience in structural steel fabrication and inspection.
  • Proven leadership and team management abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe applications.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule in a hybrid environment.
  • Approximately 50% travel to fabrication facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain the nondestructive testing (NDT) program.

  • Support staffing and resource planning efforts.
  • Confirm the accuracy and compliance of project documentation.
  • Maintain internal quality control records.
