About The Position

Toolworks is seeking a dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to help Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing adults with disabilities become more independent and connected in their communities. Requirements

Must have fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) at a level appropriate for providing direct instruction and support (proficiency may be assessed during the interview).
Must have First Aid and CPR certification (or the ability to obtain it within 30 days of hire).
Must have the ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout the San Francisco community.
Must have the ability to pass program-required background clearances.
Must have a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and automobile insurance (only required if taking on driving assignments).

Nice To Haves

2+ years of experience working as a caregiver, DSP, or community support instructor with adults with disabilities.

Responsibilities

Communicate daily using American Sign Language (ASL) to support Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing participants.
Guide individuals through community resources, recreation, and volunteer or employment opportunities.
Assist participants with navigating public transportation and building community safety awareness.
Document participant progress with clear, timely case notes and service reports.
Act as a dedicated caregiver, mentor, and advocate for participants' self-advocacy and independence.
