About The Position

This entry-level manufacturing Shot peen Apprentice role supports machined parts production within an assigned work cell under direct supervision. The position requires a strong willingness to learn, attention to detail, and the ability to follow technical plans, process sheets, standard work, and quality documentation. The employee is expected to safely use basic hand tools, perform visual inspections, clean parts, assist with preventive maintenance, and complete required certifications such as initial shot peen practical certification and CVP. The role emphasizes adherence to defined processes, recognition of conforming versus nonconforming product, and developing a basic understanding of lean principles, quality standards, and process concepts such as saturation curves. Problem-solving, troubleshooting, and task execution are performed with close guidance from team leads, mentors, or trainers, with no formal leadership responsibilities or autonomous work expected. This role may encounter high risk or hazardous operations and/or include working shifts beyond a standard workweek. As such, a requirement of the role is to be at least 18 years of age by the time of joining. This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. Therefore, employment will be contingent upon the ability to prove that you meet the status of a U.S. Person as one of the following: U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, have been granted asylee or refugee status (i.e., a protected individual under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).

Ability to begin reading and interpreting technical plans, process sheets, and work instructions
Familiarity with basic Lean principles and continuous improvement concepts
Ability to safely use basic hand tools
Ability to read, understand, and follow processes, procedures, and standard work instructions
Ability to perform visual inspection of parts for defects such as scratches or other surface imperfections, and clean parts as required
Ability to successfully complete the initial shot peen practical certification
Ability to complete and pass the CVP
Ability to access, review, and understand relevant quality documentation and quality sheets
Ability to distinguish between conforming and nonconforming product based on defined requirements
Ability to assist with preventive maintenance checks on machines and equipment while understanding the associated process requirements
Basic understanding of saturation curves and their application within the process
Can learn how to recognize common issues, but rely closely on the guidance of team leads, mentors, or trainers to resolve problems
Ability to learn how to understand and interpret relevant process sheets for machined parts production
Does not deviate from process sheet guidance for machined parts production
Defers to the team lead, mentor, or trainer with issues or challenges arise with parts production machinery, tooling, gauges, or processes
Able to understand and learn how to inspect basic parts using the proper measuring devices
Able to understand and learn how to verify proper tooling to utilize based on the task at hand
Understand the importance of systematically following procedures to identify defects for produced parts, machinery, tools, or measuring equipment
Requires direct supervision by the team lead, trainer, or mentor along with detailed instructions for all machined parts production tasks
Does not work autonomously on machined parts production
Expected and able to follow step-by-step instructions and processes, whether documented or from team lead, mentor, or trainer
At least 18 years of age by the time of joining
