About The Position

The Ash Operator Driver is responsible for the safe, efficient loading of ash material into company-owned or third-party containers (trailers or cans) and movement of those containers at the Reworld (formerly Covanta) facility. This position operates primarily within the facility yard and coordinates closely with company drivers and third-party haulers to ensure containers are loaded, staged, and ready for transport to the landfill in a timely and safe manner. The Ash Operator Driver is responsible for operating tractor trailer, roll off or site trucks, maintaining yard organization, monitoring material quality, and adhering to all company, site, state, and federal safety regulations. This role is critical to maintaining steady material flow, minimizing container downtime, and supporting landfill disposal operations.

Requirements

  • Prior tractor trailer or yard jockey experience is required.
  • Familiarity with OSHA-regulated work environments.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong safety awareness and positive safety record.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and coordinate with drivers and haulers.
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience working in industrial, landfill, transfer station, or regulated environments preferred.
  • CDL preferred but not required (depending on site requirements).

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate trucks to load ash into containers in accordance with site procedures and safety standards.
  • Load one container (trailer or can) at a time, ensuring proper distribution, weight compliance, and secure loading of ash material.
  • Stage empty and loaded containers throughout the yard to support efficient pickup by company drivers and third-party haulers.
  • Coordinate with drivers, haulers, and site personnel to ensure containers are available, accessible, and ready for transport.
  • Perform pre- and post-operation inspections of equipment in accordance with Company policy; report any safety or mechanical concerns immediately.
  • Continuously monitor ash material for evidence of unacceptable or non-conforming material and report concerns to supervision.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe yard environment, including managing spills or debris in accordance with safety procedures.
  • Complete required equipment condition reports, logs, and any other operational documentation as required.
  • Follow all Company, site, OSHA, and environmental safety policies and procedures at all times.
  • Demonstrate professional and courteous interaction with company employees, vendor representatives, and third-party haulers.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned to support site operations.
