Aseptic Mixer I- Team B Pay Rate: $29.00 Schedule: 5:30AM - 6:00PM 12-hour shifts 2-2-3 Supervisor: Production Supervisor Job Summary: Mixer I is responsible for mixing or blending a variety of raw ingredients to produce high quality, plant-based products. These tasks include ingredient verification, coordination, equipment setup and shutdown, equipment sanitization, and continuous testing and monitoring of both the product and the equipment.

Requirements

  • Must be able to stand, walk, climb, bend, squat, throughout the shift, up to (12) hours.
  • You must be able to lift to a maximum of fifty pounds.
  • Must be able to push/pull pallet jacks and lifts with heavy loads.
  • Understands and follows procedures for all allergens and how to prevent cross contamination.
  • Must adhere to all GMP's and Safety Procedures established by Management.
  • Ability to assess a situation and make quick, accurate decisions that will aid in production.
  • Must have good personal hygiene.
  • Must have basic math skills including weight calculations, averages, and percentage calculation methods.
  • Mechanical and troubleshooting skills - learn to perform and be involved with routine maintenance.
  • Able to work (12) hour shifts, as well as any overtime that may be scheduled when additional coverage is needed.
  • Works with minimal amount of supervision.
  • Must be able to accurately scan raw ingredients.
  • Must be able to read and write in English.
  • Ability to use critical thinking to plan and solve problems independently.
  • Must possess the knowledge and understanding of basic math skills including weight calculations, averages and percentages.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to independently run the mixing area, with little supervision.
  • Understand how to coordinate raw materials and verify in comparison with batch sheet.
  • Ability to set up and shut down equipment and understand the entire flow of process of mixing.
  • Know the basic flow of production and mixing area terminology.
  • Accurately scan ingredients and materials to proper batch locations within Oracle.
  • Promptly communicate any delays or problems following batch sheets to Lead.
  • Monitor the mixing operation ensuring ingredients are correct through the staging and mixing process of the product.
  • Identify all mixing area critical control points with the understanding of their function.
  • Accurately prepare and complete all documentation, including quality checks, sanitation checklists, and batch sheets.
  • Ability to understand the importance of our quality standards, minimize scrap, and maximize production output.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Adheres to all plant safety rules.
  • Reports all near misses and accidents to the Production Supervisor or HR representative.
  • Serves an active role in the plant safety programs, by participating in monthly safety inspections and reporting any potential safety hazards to the safety committee or Management team.
  • Adheres to all Quality Assurance System guidelines.
  • Follow SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures) and SSOP’s (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures) to ensure the manufacturing of high-quality aseptic products.
  • Responsible for compliance with the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) programs.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Assists all areas of the plant with general housekeeping.
  • Cooperates with other shifts and the management team in housekeeping endeavors.
  • As a member of the Production team, ensures the effective shift communication and teamwork with the other operators occurs with all shifts.
  • Maintains effective communication with members of the support group.
  • Continuous improvement of knowledge of the production areas.
  • Become familiar with SunOpta 360.
  • Completes and adheres to the annual alchemy schedule.
