About The Position

Tectonic is currently seeking an Asbestos Technician to support environmental and construction projects throughout the New York City metropolitan area. This position offers the opportunity to perform asbestos inspections, air monitoring, and project monitoring activities while receiving training in concrete testing and other special inspection services. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to obtain required certifications upon employment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document field observations and project findings.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple assignments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PDF software.
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly to project sites throughout the NYC metropolitan area, including occasional work outside normal business hours.
  • Valid driver's license and personal vehicle required.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 2 years of asbestos inspection, air monitoring, project monitoring, construction inspection, materials testing, or related experience preferred.
  • One or more of the following certifications strongly preferred: NYS Asbestos Inspector, NYS Asbestos Project Monitor, NYS Asbestos Air Sampling Technician, NYC DEP Asbestos Investigator, NJ Asbestos Safety Technician.
  • ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Certification is a plus.
  • OSHA safety training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Traveling to project sites throughout New York City and the surrounding region to perform asbestos inspections in commercial, institutional, transportation, industrial, and residential environments.
  • Collecting bulk samples of suspect materials.
  • Preparing chain-of-custody documentation.
  • Coordinating laboratory analysis.
  • Conducting asbestos air monitoring.
  • Documenting findings in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Supporting construction materials testing and special inspection services.
  • Collecting material samples.
  • Performing field testing of concrete and other construction materials.
  • Monitoring construction activities.
  • Utilizing testing equipment to verify compliance with project plans and specifications.
  • Assisting with various special inspections.
  • Preparing accurate field and inspection reports.
  • Maintaining project documentation.
  • Communicating with project managers, contractors, clients, and regulatory representatives.
  • Performing all other duties as assigned.
