About The Position

The Greenridge Group is a prime contractor and consulting firm specializing in Project and Construction Management for major public-sector agencies. We are seeking an experienced Asbestos Abatement Coordinator to support LAUSD’s Facilities Services Division. This role is ideal for an environmental or construction professional with hands-on experience in asbestos and lead assessment, sampling, abatement design, monitoring, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • 5 years of full-time professional construction experience involving asbestos/lead assessment, sampling, design, monitoring, and abatement; OR 2 years of relevant professional construction experience plus a current California Certified Site Surveillance Technician (CSST) certification; OR Current California Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC) certification.
  • AHERA asbestos course certificates: Building Inspector, Management Planner, Contractor/Supervisor, and Project Designer
  • EPA Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) Certification
  • California Department of Public Health Lead Inspector/Assessor/Project Monitor certification

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field preferred/required by the position criteria.
  • Candidates without a degree may substitute additional qualifying experience on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support related to asbestos and lead issues affecting construction and facilities projects.
  • Prepare site assessments and abatement designs for asbestos- and lead-containing materials.
  • Review environmental consultant reports and construction documents for accuracy and project impact.
  • Conduct site surveys, asbestos bulk sampling, and lead wipe or paint-chip sampling.
  • Develop project estimates and reports related to environmental assessment, design, and monitoring.
  • Plan and coordinate the removal, disposal, encapsulation, or management of asbestos-containing materials and lead-based paint.
  • Monitor environmental work during construction to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, safety requirements, and project specifications.
  • Maintain project tracking information and use Maximo to track job progress.
