About The Position

The Arts Social Worker role is a 1-year pilot position. As an Arts Social Worker you will support Abrons Arts Center’s arts education program through dynamic social-emotional programming initiatives, clinical care of identified participants requiring one on one support, and case management for the program’s arts education learner community. As a member of the Henry Street Settlement Community Social Work cohort, this role serves as a key liaison to the broader Settlement campus, representing the Arts Center in Settlement-wide initiatives and connecting other programs to Arts Center resources. The Arts Social Worker is a member of the arts education team. They report to the Director of Arts Education and Community Engagement and receive clinical supervision with an LCSW-Approved Supervisor to count toward licensure hours.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work is required
  • Experience with supporting a diverse community of constituents from youth to adult through clinical, trauma-informed therapeutic treatment models and case management
  • Expertise in creating and facilitating creative, artistically driven programming that promotes social emotional development and wellbeing
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Confidence facilitating programming for individuals and large groups
  • Must be New York City based and available to work on site at our Lower East Side facility
  • Must be able to move throughout our 40K square foot facility that includes stairs, elevators, ramps, indoor and outdoor spaces
  • Ability to travel to all Henry Street Settlement sites when requested

Responsibilities

  • Resource for arts education team members and faculty to provide support and skill development opportunities in social emotional learning and behavioral management
  • Provide case management support for learners and caregivers, connecting them to Henry Street Settlement resources as needed
  • Serve as an ambassador of arts education programming throughout Settlement programs
  • Support arts education faculty, activity specialists, and learners for the Promoting the Arts Throughout Henry Street (PATHS) program by providing classroom management support, case management, and skill-building opportunities in social-emotional learning
  • Organize responsive programming on relevant social/emotional topics for faculty professional development workshops and arts education Community Circles
  • Any other duties assigned by the Supervisor and program leadership
