About The Position

Daemen University's Visual & Performing Arts Department is seeking an Artist in Residence for the 2026/27 academic year. The Artist in Residence will be provided with a dedicated studio space for the duration of the academic year, and a solo exhibition in the campus gallery. The position is voluntary, with the Artist in Residence providing a small number of workshops and open studio hours in exchange for studio space and access to facilities.

Requirements

• A cover letter including a short explanation for 2 suggested workshops.
• A resume.
• Examples of work, either in a PDF or by providing a link to an online portfolio website.

Responsibilities

• Provide four individual workshops for students, with the freedom to choose the subject and design them as they wish, in agreement with the faculty.
• Give a talk on their exhibited work followed by a Q&A session.
• Keep regular, weekly, open-studio hours, not exceeding 4 hours per week, during which they will be working in their studio space and students are free to visit.
