About The Position

The Artificial Intelligence Student Assistant supports Klamath Community College’s Artificial Intelligence literacy and student engagement initiatives by assisting with workshops, outreach, resource development, and student support activities. This position provides hands-on experience with emerging artificial intelligence technologies while helping promote responsible and effective AI use across campus. This is a part-time position of approximately 6-10 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Must be a current Klamath Community College student in good academic standing.
  • Experience using generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Copilot.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to patiently and supportively assist individuals with varying comfort levels using technology.
  • Enthusiasm for artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, and helping others learn and feel comfortable using new tools.
  • Basic technology proficiency and the ability to quickly learn and troubleshoot AI tools, websites, and mobile applications.
  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to create clear, student-friendly instructional materials and digital content.
  • Ability to work independently, follow instructions, take initiative, and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to engage, encourage, and build positive relationships with students and community members from diverse backgrounds.
  • Positive attitude, dependability, and eagerness to learn in a rapidly evolving technology environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the “Introduction to Artificial Intelligence” Community Education course, including classroom setup, participant support, and technology assistance.
  • Help market the Intro to Artificial Intelligence (AIT 123) course, AI Student Club, and other AI literacy initiatives through flyers, social media, and peer outreach.
  • Support the development and updating of student-facing AI guides, tutorials, FAQs, and online resource materials.
  • Attend presentations and guest lectures on Artificial Intelligence and Academic Integrity to provide a student perspective and peer engagement.
  • Research, test, and provide feedback on emerging AI tools and technologies from a student-user perspective.
  • Assist with event setup, attendance tracking, data entry, and other administrative support tasks related to AI programming.
  • Serve as a student representative on committees, meetings, or advisory groups related to AI literacy, student engagement, or educational technology initiatives.
  • Adhere to Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Regulations.
  • Follow and enforce all KCC policies and procedures.
