About The Position

The Art Therapist provides mental health services on a non-verbal and verbal basis to students and their families facilitating the use of art as a medium of expression, develops appropriate treatment goals and acts as a member of the interdisciplinary team. We will consider LGPAT or LCPAT (Art Therapist I or II).

Requirements

  • Must possess and maintain licensure at the LCPAT or LGPAT level through the MD Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists
  • Master’s Degree in Art Therapy is required.
  • Experience with ED/LD/DD children is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years experience in art therapy with children is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop individualized goals and objectives for each student with IEP services, based upon assessment procedure and IEP team recommendation.
  • Implement evidence-based practice treatment plans to meet student IEP goals and objectives.
  • Maintain up-to-date log note documentation, with required components, of services delivered, prepares quarterly and annual reports for IEPs.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings, collaborating with educational and other clinical staff to implement student IEPs and facilitate students’ participation with and progress in the curriculum.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as maintaining materials, equipment, requisitioning supplies and organizing art therapy room.
  • Participate in the mental department meetings and committees and demonstrates professional demeanor with colleagues.
  • Plan/develop and deliver programmatic expressive therapy groups for students as required by school program assignment; collaborate as required with other team members to facilitate groups.
