Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Art, Art Therapy, Counseling, or healthcare-related field is required.
Minimum of 2 – 5 years of related work experience required.
Eligibility to sit for certification and maintaining certification is required.

Nice To Haves

Masters in Art Therapy is preferred.
Certification in Recreational Therapy is desired.
Certification in Art Therapy through the Art Therapy Credentials Board is desired.

Responsibilities

Use a wide range of artistic activities to improve physical, cognitive, emotional, social, spiritual, and leisure functioning of patients.
Use a wide range of therapeutic activity and community-based interventions and techniques to improve the physical, cognitive, emotional, social, spiritual, and leisure functioning of patients.
Develop programs with measurable goals that incorporate specific abilities, tolerance, and interests into therapy to achieve optimal outcomes that transfer to real life situations.
Organize and facilitate individual and group art programs/projects for assigned patients to enable a greater quality of life.
Develop and implement therapeutic interventions consistent with the patients’ needs and interests.
Locate, develop, and stay current on clinical and community resources available to enhance patient programs and outcomes.
Develop curriculum to enhance treatment.
Develop and implement individualized home and community plans for the patients' residential program.
