About The Position

The Future Artist Instructor will lead a creative art program introducing children to foundational art concepts and a variety of artistic mediums. The role involves guiding hands-on projects and fostering a positive, encouraging classroom environment. The program runs from 11-2-2026 to 12-18-2026. The schedule is Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. for 7th–8th grade and/or Tuesday and Thursday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. for 1st–3rd grade. The position is in person in Visalia, California. Pay is $18.00–$22.00 per hour; compensation is competitive and based on experience. Additional opportunities for future sessions may be available.

Requirements

• Experience working with children, such as teaching, tutoring, camps, childcare, or similar.
• Ability to lead a group, communicate clearly, and engage young learners.
• Reliable and punctual, with the ability to manage a structured classroom.
• Positive, encouraging attitude and a passion for helping children develop confidence through art.
• Five years of art experience (required).
• One year of teaching experience (required).
• Ability to commute to Visalia, CA 93279 (required).

Nice To Haves

• Background in art, design, or creative instruction preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver weekly art lessons suitable for children ages 5–9.
• Introduce students to basic techniques in drawing, painting, mixed media, and creative expression.
• Prepare materials and set up the classroom before each session.
• Provide step-by-step instruction while allowing freedom for individual creativity.
• Maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all participants.
• Encourage students, offer constructive feedback, and support their artistic growth.
• Communicate as needed with site staff regarding supplies, attendance, or class updates.
• Manage cleanup and ensure materials are stored properly after class.
