About The Position

City School has equipped Pre-K through 8th grade students academically, spiritually, and relationally to follow Christ and serve others for twenty years. Passionate about both education and community, City School draws on the Charlotte Mason tradition of a liberal arts education that is for everyone. We offer students a strong foundation in academics, grounded in living books and the practice of narration. We seek to cultivate the will by helping students orient their affections toward Christ through experience of the good, true, and beautiful. Requirements

  • Active member in good standing at a Christian church.
  • Hold at least a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal skills are required when interacting with all stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Teaching experience, especially in a Charlotte Mason educational setting.
  • Hold a teaching license and/or certification.
  • Bilingual candidates, Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Create an environment conducive to students’ spiritual, academic and social development.
  • Plan and implement effective lessons that develop students’ artistic skills.
  • Consistently model and encourage behavior that cultivates meaningful relationships within students’ classroom and school community.
  • Model and implement City School’s Christian religious beliefs, mission, vision, values, philosophy of education and student formation beliefs.
  • Demonstrate a passion for both teaching and serving children who are eager to learn.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the Charlotte Mason approach to education.
  • Create and/or enhance unit plans for content areas.
  • Submit weekly lesson plans/daily objectives in a timely manner.
  • Enter grades into the gradebook weekly in order to prepare progress and report cards in a timely manner.
  • Keep daily records (attendance, behavioral documentation, etc.).
  • Communicate well with students, parents, colleagues and supervisors.
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings, special events, professional development sessions and teacher work days.
  • Effectively steward their students’ spiritual, emotional, social and physical well-being.
  • Effectively steward all designated school materials and equipment.
