About The Position

Berkley Middle School is seeking a full-time Art Teacher (1.0 FTE) to develop and implement high-quality, developmentally appropriate lessons based on state and district curriculum standards. The teacher will be responsible for fostering student learning and well-being, maintaining effective communication with parents, and supervising assigned support staff.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or higher
Appropriate MA DESE teacher certification
Ability to communicate effectively with appropriate age groups and provide excellence in instructional practice.

Responsibilities

Plans and implements high-quality, developmentally appropriate lessons for students based on state curriculum standards and the Berkley curriculum.
Know and follow procedures established for students' health, safety, security, and well-being.
Achieve an in-depth understanding of the physical, social, intellectual, and emotional characteristics of the age group of the students in his/her classroom.
Help students to develop efficient and effective ways of learning and studying.
Help students improve their skills, understanding, and appreciation of writing, speaking, and listening abilities.
Establish and maintain a stimulating environment for learning, using varied techniques and groups of students as appropriate.
Help students improve their ability to work with others in classroom and school situations.
Model the effective use of technology within the classroom setting.
Help students evaluate their work and grow and learn positively as a result of the evaluation process.
Develop and maintain effective communication with parents.
Supervise the work of teacher assistants, instructional aides, interns, and student teachers as assigned.
