About The Position

We are seeking an Art Teacher to join our team. This role provides art instruction to K-12 students requiring special education in a therapeutic educational setting. Cornerstones of Care is a mental and behavioral health nonprofit certified in trauma-informed care that provides evidence-based prevention, intervention, treatment, and support services to help children and families improve their safety and health by making positive changes in their lives. Requirements

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience working as an art teacher or art therapist
  • Bachelor’s or master’s in art education is required.
  • MO Teacher certification is required.
  • At least 21 years of age and pass background check, physical, and drug screening.
  • A valid driver’s license in the state you reside in, proof of current vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and create engaging art lessons in a therapeutic school setting
  • Support students on their Individualized Educational Programs (IEP’s) that meet state requirements while meeting each student's educational & behavioral needs.
  • Plan and implement a sound, therapeutic expressive art program available to each child, teaching basic art skills.
  • Be aware of available community art resources and offer to children as appropriate.
  • Keep the treatment team current on any developments with the child in expressive arts.
  • Care for equipment, supplies, and art room, which include maintenance and ordering of all art supplies.
  • Responsible for implementation of small group programs and /or specialized small art groups.
  • Creation of items for special events/projects.
  • Maintain records/documentation concerning student's academic and behavioral goals.
  • Maintain a classroom environment that is trauma informed and conductive to learning.
  • Work closely with appropriate staff to ensure adequate supervision of all students.
