About The Position

Baton Rouge Charter School for students with dyslexia seeks a highly creative art educator to implement a 1st - 5th grade art curriculum. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in visual arts and a passion for helping students express creativity, build confidence, and develop their unique strengths through artistic experiences. The role involves understanding how art can serve as a pathway for students to engage with history, literature, culture, and interdisciplinary learning. Collaboration with classroom teachers and school leaders is essential, as is a strong desire to participate in ongoing professional learning to understand dyslexia and its impact on learning. The position requires an open-minded approach to instruction, utilizing innovative, multisensory, and student-centered teaching practices, along with a growth mindset and willingness to implement feedback. Nice To Haves

  • Louisiana teaching certification in Art Education (or eligibility for certification).
  • Experience using a variety of artistic mediums, including drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, and digital art.
