About The Position

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Art Education preferred. Teaching degree/certification and experience in related field can be substituted
• Experience working with students with disabilities preferably in a classroom setting
• Strong knowledge of various art techniques, materials, and tools
• Ability to create engaging and age-appropriate lesson plans
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Patience, empathy, and the ability to work effectively with diverse student populations

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with literacy education principles is a plus
• Experience mentoring or tutoring students is highly desirable

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement art lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and educational goals
• Teach students various art techniques and skills, including drawing, painting, ceramics,, and mixed media
• Provide guidance and support to students with special needs, including those with autism or other learning disabilities
• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages creativity and self-expression
• Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback on their artwork
• Collaborate with other teachers and staff to integrate art into cross-curricular projects
• Organize and display student artwork for exhibitions or showcases
• Stay up-to-date with current trends and developments in art education.
