About The Position

St. Bartholomew Catholic School is seeking a passionate, creative, and faith-filled Art Teacher to join our school community beginning January 2027. Serving students in Kindergarten through Grade 8, the Art Teacher will foster artistic expression while integrating Catholic values into a vibrant visual arts curriculum.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Art Education or a related field preferred
  • Valid Indiana teaching license (or eligibility for licensure).
  • Experience teaching elementary or middle school students is preferred.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • Commitment to supporting the mission and values of Catholic education.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and teach engaging visual arts lessons for students in Kindergarten through Grade 8.
  • Develop curriculum aligned with Indiana Academic Standards for Visual Arts.
  • Foster creativity while teaching foundational techniques in drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, mixed media, and art history.
  • Integrate Catholic faith, service, and stewardship into classroom instruction when appropriate.
  • Create a welcoming, organized, and safe learning environment.
  • Display student artwork throughout the school and coordinate school art exhibitions.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administration to support school-wide initiatives.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and classroom activities.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.
