About The Position

This position is for an Art Teacher within the Migrant Summer School Special Project, known as 'Art-full Adventures'. The teacher will be responsible for providing art instruction to students in grades 8-12, focusing on completing a capstone project. The role involves working collaboratively with program staff, supervising support staff, and providing differentiated instruction. The teacher must be present for the entire duration of the program, including a mandatory training session.

Requirements

  • Ability to understand and accept the philosophy of the Bilingual Services Department in reference to the education of Migrant students and/or English Learners
  • Special experience in Art working with capstone project/s
  • Ability to facilitate student-centered, project-based curriculum (must provide evidence)
  • Recent EXCELLENT classroom management skills
  • Proven ability to work with 8th grade to 12th grade students
  • Must be present throughout the duration of the entire Summer Migrant Program
  • Vacations must be taken prior to the start date of July 13, 2026 and after July 17, 2026
  • Requires flexible scheduling of work responsibilities

Nice To Haves

  • Valid Indiana Teacher’s License in Art

Responsibilities

  • Provide Art instruction to complete a capstone project
  • Work collaboratively with MRSC and Bilingual Services Department staff
  • Supervise and provide direction for classroom support staff to support instruction
  • Provide differentiated instruction based on the individual needs of students
  • May need to work in collaboration with another teacher
  • Provide Migrant Summer School Administrator with student records, including daily attendance
  • Attend training session as listed
  • Provide instruction to students in 8th grade - 12th grade
