About The Position

Powell Drive Neighborhood Center is looking for a passionate, creative, and engaging Art Instructor to bring exciting art experiences to participants of all ages. We’re seeking an experienced artist who enjoys sharing their creativity with the community and creating a welcoming, fun, and encouraging classroom environment. If you love working with people, inspiring young artists, and leading hands-on creative experiences, we’d love to hear from you.

Requirements

• Has experience teaching or leading art instruction
• Is skilled in a variety of traditional art mediums
• Enjoys working with diverse age groups
• Is patient, energetic, and community-minded
• Feels comfortable managing group instruction in a fun and organized setting
• Brings creativity, enthusiasm, and reliability to every class
• Stooping, reaching, standing, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
• Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
• Visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.

Responsibilities

• Lead themed community art classes for participants of varying ages and skill levels
• Teach and demonstrate techniques using: Paint, Pencil, Pen
• Create an inclusive, engaging, and positive learning environment
• Confidently lead classes of up to 24 participants with support staff assisting with setup and cleanup
• Encourage creativity, self-expression, and artistic confidence in students
• Adapt instruction for both children and adults, including children as young as 4 years old
