About The Position

Muse Paintbar is a guided painting experience with 26 studios across the East Coast. We offer a unique blend of guided painting, a bar and kitchen, and a fun, social atmosphere. We are not a gallery or a traditional classroom; instead, we provide a memorable night out that involves creating art. The Art Instructor is the central figure, leading the painting sessions, hosting the party, and ensuring smooth operations of food and drink service.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of hands-on painting experience, acrylics preferred.
  • Comfortable with a microphone and leading a group.
  • Proficiency in acrylics.
  • Ability to make people laugh and build confidence in participants.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Punctuality.
  • A genuine service instinct.
  • Comfortable with technology such as microphones, printers, and sound systems.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% weekly.
  • Flexible availability, including weekends and evenings.
  • Must be 21 or older.
  • Standing for long stretches.
  • Stepping onto and off of elevated surfaces frequently.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, moving, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to move through the studio quickly and safely, including tight spaces and raised surfaces.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with music and large groups.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in a related art field.
  • Experience teaching or leading a group.
  • Prior experience in a customer-facing role.
  • TIPS and ServSafe certification (training and payment provided if not certified).

Responsibilities

  • Prepare Muse signature paintings according to guidelines and display the approved master above the stage before each session.
  • Utilize provided templates to break down paintings into steps suitable for beginners.
  • Lead painting sessions from start to finish, maintaining audience engagement and adhering to the schedule.
  • Provide step-by-step guidance during painting sessions, keeping the room engaged and on time.
  • Print attendee lists, assign group seating, and set up palettes before guests arrive.
  • Greet guests, escort them to their seats, and distribute aprons.
  • Direct guests to the menu and manage food and drink orders at the bar and tableside.
  • Check in with painters during the session and take additional orders.
  • Assist in capturing photos during the session for social media.
  • Break down and clean up the studio after each session to prepare for the next.
  • When assigned as Cook, prep and plate food orders with attention to presentation and safety.
  • Follow the kitchen checklist, maintain a clean workspace, and stay updated on equipment and safety standards.
  • Be cross-trained to share responsibilities, cover where needed, and prioritize the guest experience.
