About The Position

At KURU Footwear, we don't just make shoes-we make people rethink what comfortable movement feels like. And now we're looking for an Art Director to make sure we look just as good as we feel. This isn't a "make things pretty and pass them along" kind of role. This is a "define the brand, raise the bar, and make sure everything we put into the world actually feels like us" kind of role. If you love turning big ideas into bold creative, care about details most people never notice, and enjoy shaping how a brand shows up across every touchpoint-you might be in the right place. A portfolio is required for consideration for this role.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in art direction, brand design, or creative direction (DTC, fashion, footwear, or lifestyle preferred)
  • A portfolio that shows thinking-not just execution
  • Know how to build brand systems that actually scale
  • Comfortable leading photo/video production from idea to final asset
  • Strong command of Figma and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Balance "this looks amazing" with "this drives results"
  • Communicate clearly and can rally people around a creative vision
  • Can manage multiple projects without losing your mind (or the brand voice)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in eCommerce or performance-driven brands
  • Background in footwear, apparel, or lifestyle branding
  • A habit of turning "what if..." into "here's the campaign"
  • Experience mentoring or leading creative teams

Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve the visual identity of KURU across digital, physical, and experiential channels
  • Lead creative concepting for campaigns, product launches, and brand moments that stand out in a crowded market
  • Bring ideas to life-sometimes leading, sometimes rolling up your sleeves and executing
  • Direct photo and video shoots from concept through final delivery (yes, talent, styling, sets, the whole thing)
  • Set the creative standard across web, email, paid media, packaging, print, and retail
  • Collaborate with marketing, eCommerce, merchandising, and copy to ensure everything is strategically aligned and emotionally compelling
  • Build and maintain brand systems in Figma that keep the team consistent and scalable
  • Mentor and elevate designers through clear direction, feedback, and high expectations
  • Partner with leadership to translate brand strategy into a distinct, recognizable visual language
