This position requires enhanced knowledge and expertise in MRI, including maintaining a safe MRI environment daily. The technologist must understand basic anatomy, physiology, and physics as they pertain to MRI patient care. The role involves providing imaging services and transportation to patients of all ages, ensuring thorough explanations and communication with patients and families. Upholding all safety standards, following established protocols, and observing JCAHO standards are critical. The position prioritizes customer and patient satisfaction using AIDET principles and collaborates with other departments for optimal patient care. The technologist will use I Care principles for proper patient identification, correct exams, and improved patient communication. Good stewardship of supplies, equipment, and resources is expected to contribute to the financial viability of the DCH Health System. Specific responsibilities include practicing MRI zone safety, scheduling MR patients, administering contrast/medications, understanding clinical history and billing practices, correlating clinical history with exams, participating in MRI QC, and maintaining accreditation. The role also involves inventory and supply management, and the care and maintenance of imaging equipment and software. The technologist may instruct and supervise student technologists and new employees. Call duties during off-hours are required and compensated accordingly. A charge tech or lead tech, when assigned, will facilitate and coordinate services, act as a liaison, and inform other shifts of changes. Per Diem staff have specific holiday and work frequency requirements, and must provide notice for unavailability and resignation. The technologist must function proficiently with little or no supervision.
