About The Position

MultiCare Cancer Institute is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our growing Gynecologic Oncology team in Auburn, Washington. This is a unique opportunity to partner closely with a dedicated Gynecologic Oncologist in delivering high-quality, comprehensive cancer care within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. The selected Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will play an integral role across the continuum of care — supporting surgical services, managing complex oncology patients in clinic, and collaborating with a robust care team focused on evidence-based, patient-centered outcomes. This position follows a 4/10 schedule model, with a designated day off (to be determined). Call responsibilities will rotate with the Gynecologic Oncology APP team.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Current APRN certification and licensure in Washington State
  • DEA, NPI & prescriptive authority
  • Current BLS for Healthcare Providers certification by the American Heart Association

Nice To Haves

  • Prior gynecologic oncology experience is preferred, but not required. Motivated APPs with strong surgical aptitude and oncology interest who are eager to grow within a specialized cancer program are welcome.

Responsibilities

  • First assist in the operating room for gynecologic oncology surgical cases
  • Provide outpatient clinic coverage (1–2 days per week, depending on surgical schedule)
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with gynecologic malignancies
  • Conduct pre-operative and post-operative assessments
  • Coordinate care plans in collaboration with surgeons and multidisciplinary oncology teams
  • Participate in shared call rotation with Gynecologic Oncology APP colleagues
  • First assist in surgical procedures and provide perioperative care.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including histories and physical exams.
  • Supports surgical oncologists in both inpatient and outpatient settings, contributing to improved access, continuity, and outcomes for oncology patients.
  • On call for practice and ER as needed for the practice.
  • Independently manages hospital-based care and outpatients.
  • Has specialized training or practice focused on surgical oncology.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with surgical oncologists.
  • Order, interpret, and follow up on diagnostic tests and imaging.
  • Coordinates patient care with other specialties.
  • Supervises RN and MAs in the treatment of surgical patients.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, procedures, and recovery.
  • Participate in tumor boards, care conferences, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Document all patient interactions and clinical decisions in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Stay current with best practices, emerging therapies, and clinical guidelines through continuing education and training.
