About The Position

This role is responsible for maintaining accurate records of issued keys, tracking key check-ins and check-outs, performing routine maintenance on keys, issuing new keys, removing obsolete keys, and maintaining inventory records of all keys stored in the armory. The position also ensures the safe handling, storage, and accountability of firearms, chemical agents, and ammunition, and maintains the armory equipment issuance log. Verification of staff authorization and certification is required prior to issuing firearms or chemical agents. The role involves preparing and maintaining reports, logs, and documentation, modeling appropriate behavior, and maintaining accountability of staff, inmates, and property while adhering to safety protocols. Additional duties may be assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Must have working knowledge of firearms, firearm safety, and key control procedures
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver’s license, where applicable.
  • Successful completion of required training and on-the-job instruction in accordance with company standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Locksmith certification preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records of all permanently issued keys to personnel.
  • Track and document all keys checked in and out of central control on a daily basis.
  • Perform routine maintenance on keys and key rings.
  • Issue new keys and maintain detailed records of all additions.
  • Remove obsolete or unused keys and document all changes accordingly.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records of all keys stored in the armory.
  • Ensure the safe handling, storage, and accountability of all firearms, chemical agents, and ammunition.
  • Maintain and update the armory equipment issuance log.
  • Verify staff authorization and certification prior to issuing firearms or chemical agents.
  • Prepare and maintain reports, logs, and documentation in accordance with company standards.
  • Model and promote appropriate behavior, reinforcing positive interactions and addressing inappropriate conduct.
  • Maintain accountability of staff, inmates, and property while adhering to all safety protocols.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the role, as determined by management.
