This role involves performing duties related to the detention, processing, safeguarding, security, escort, and transport of detainees. The officer will exercise surveillance and control over detainees, maintain order and discipline, and enforce the rules and regulations of the detention facility. This position requires the care, custody, and control of detainees, including removing them from holding areas using proper restraints and security measures. The officer will also guard detainees during deportation or exclusion hearings, transport, and medical care. A significant part of the role involves carrying authorized intermediate weapons and maintaining all authorized equipment, including firearms, duty belts, handcuffs, ballistic vests, and communication radios. The officer will also be responsible for making official entries in logbooks, conducting security and sanitation checks, performing vehicle inspections, and inventorying equipment. Additionally, the role may involve augmenting staff in Krome Service Processing Center operations, attending to housing, feeding, and the physical well-being of detainees 24 hours a day, and performing other duties as assigned. All work must be performed in accordance with organization policies, procedures, training, and safety guidelines.
