About The Position

Dominion Energy is seeking an Armed Security Specialist to provide analytical and tactical armed protective support for a centralized security operations center. This role utilizes sophisticated security systems and technologies for intrusion analysis, subtle event detection, video analytics, and incident management. The specialist will respond to, assess, and investigate security events, exercise independent decision-making in high-stress environments, and manage multiple priorities. Key responsibilities include assessing threat streams, evaluating suspicious activities, managing electronic access control systems, coordinating with external agencies, and interacting with law enforcement. Proficiency in safe weapon handling, firing, and maintenance is essential. The role also involves controlling access to facilities, searching vehicles and personnel, assisting in training security personnel, developing and implementing security procedures, preparing reports, maintaining security documentation, conducting security assessments, and implementing security countermeasures. The specialist will work in a team environment to enhance the company's overall security posture and must maintain fitness for duty and required certifications.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years direct experience carrying a firearm in the course of duty, to include prior civilian law enforcement or prior military police experience.
  • Successful completion of an Accredited Basic Law Enforcement academy, required.
  • Experience responding to public service calls in a sworn capacity in a federal, state, or local government agency.
  • Ability to meet and maintain the necessary Corporate Intelligence & Security requirements for eligibility to carry a firearm.
  • Experience with laws, codes, and government regulatory processes to ensure compliance.
  • Ability to understand security concepts in providing critical infrastructure protection at a security control center operation.
  • Ability to understand Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Standards in accordance with and enforceable by the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) and how it applies to Dominion Energy.
  • Experience utilizing physical access control systems (PACS), video surveillance systems (VSS), and other security technologies for intrusion analysis, event detection, and analytics.
  • Ability to perform regular security assessments and maintain situational awareness.
  • Ability to monitor and respond to security events, and to provide security expertise.
  • Ability to manage the flow of sensitive security information.
  • Consistent demonstration of strong, independent critical thinking and decision-making skills applied in a security environment.
  • Ability to work independently and achieve results with little supervision.
  • Ability to assess security incidents and take appropriate action.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage multiple work processes.
  • Experience with developing and providing training to coworkers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers to provide effective incident response and management.
  • Ability to analyze information and make sound decisions.
  • Ability to successfully complete physical training and physical fitness requirements annually.
  • Ability to work 12-hour, day and/or night rotating shifts, as needed.
  • Valid Drivers License and must be 21 years of age

Nice To Haves

  • Prior training and experience in armed threat response strongly preferred.
  • A Master's degree will count as one year towards the experience requirement.
  • A partial year of six months or more will be rounded up to one year.

Responsibilities

  • Provides analytical and tactical armed protective support for a centralized security operations center.

  • Coordinates with county and state agencies to facilitate emergency response.
  • Interacts with law enforcement during routine operations, drills, or emergencies at company facilities.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the safe handling, firing and maintenance of assigned weaponry.
  • Controls access to and patrols all areas.
  • Controls personnel, vehicle and package or cargo access, in accordance with company policy and security procedures.
  • Searches vehicles, personnel, and possessions prior to entry to facility.
  • Assists in providing orientation, training, and retraining of security personnel.
  • Assist in developing, maintaining, and implementing security procedures.
  • Adheres to departmental security policies and procedures.
  • Prepares required security reports.
  • Maintains security documentation, including electronic security systems and hardware.
  • Ensures regular security assessments for facility are conducted.
  • Assists in implementing effective security countermeasures, according to assigned plans, in response to increased threats.
  • Ensures precision in application of security procedures and technical application integral to threat detection countermeasures.
  • Manages emergency notification procedures in accordance with company response plans.
  • Works in a team environment to improve processes and company’s overall security posture.
  • Maintains fitness for duty in accordance with company policy.
  • Maintains certification as required.
