About The Position

As an Armed Security Guard, you will be responsible for providing a visible security presence and maintaining a safe and secure environment within an indoor government facility. This role requires professionalism, strong situational awareness, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to responsibly carry and maintain authorized firearms in accordance with state laws and company policy. Primary responsibilities include conducting indoor foot patrols, monitoring surveillance and alarm systems, controlling access and egress, observing and reporting suspicious activity, and responding appropriately to safety or security concerns within the facility. Officers are expected to complete accurate reports and maintain detailed logs in accordance with post orders and company policy. In addition to physical security duties, this position actively supports SSC’s G.E.T. Principles — Greet, Engage, and Thank, ensuring a positive experience for employees, visitors, contractors, and government personnel.

Requirements

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Pass a State licensing test if driving a company-owned or client-provided vehicle
  • Pass and possess a State Licensed Armed Security Guard Card / License if required by your State / City / Locality
  • Verifiable work history if previously employed and must possess one or more of the following: Graduate of an accredited high school or a Certificate of Completion of General Education Development requirements; and meet one of the following experience / education requirements: Experience of 1 year as a security officer strongly preferred

  • Must be at least 18 years old or the minimum age required by the state, if higher
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
  • Must be able to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors
  • Must have demonstrated ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public
  • Must be warm, engaging, charismatic; and possess a natural ability to develop rapport with others in an authentic and sincere manner
  • Must practice good judgment; high level of integrity
  • Must be proactive; take initiative with minimal supervision
  • Must be resourceful; think critically and finds solutions even without the obvious resources
  • Must be able to navigate challenging situations while remaining positive
  • Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine and random indoor security patrols throughout the government facility
  • Observe, report, and deter theft, misconduct, and suspicious behavior
  • Monitor CCTV, alarms, and access control systems
  • Control entry and exit points and verify authorized access
  • Identify and address safety hazards or irregular conditions
  • Respond to incidents and emergencies; notify law enforcement or emergency services as required
  • Maintain and carry authorized firearm/equipment in accordance with company policy and state regulations
  • Assist with basic first aid and emergency notifications
  • Prepare detailed written reports on incidents, accidents, and suspicious activity
  • Serve as a liaison with local law enforcement and facility management when necessary
  • Maintain a clean, professional, and orderly post area at all times
  • Greet and welcome employees, guests, contractors, and visitors in a professional and courteous manner
  • Engage proactively with individuals to provide assistance, information, or direction
  • Thank individuals for visiting the facility and promote a positive and secure environment
  • Anticipate and respond to questions regarding the facility, policies, and procedures
  • Assist with visitor services such as directions and access procedures
  • Troubleshoot concerns and escalate issues to management when appropriate
