About The Position

The Georgia Department of Labor is seeking a part-time Armed Security Guard (Facility Security Officer 2) to secure and protect its downtown Atlanta facility. Under general supervision, the guard patrols, monitors, and protects premises to prevent theft, violence, and rule violations, and responds to fires, natural disasters, and other hazardous events. The role is highly visible and requires courteous, informative interactions with agency staff, vendors, and customers. The position may require up to 10% travel and is limited to no more than 29 hours per week. The schedule is Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 3:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.; Thursday from 3:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.; and Saturday from 1:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. Compensation is $23.00 per hour.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
One year of armed security or law enforcement experience.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Pass a criminal background check.
Reliable transportation.
Ability to work flexible hours, including mornings, evenings, and weekends.
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
After a contingent offer, pass a drug and alcohol test, medical exam, criminal background check, and physical fitness test.

Nice To Haves

Previous work experience in a safety monitoring environment.
Law enforcement or military experience.

Responsibilities

Manage traffic flow and enforce parking regulations.
Warn people about rule infractions or violations and apprehend or evict violators from the premises, using force if necessary.
Answer alarms and investigate disturbances.
Inspect assigned areas for fire or environmental hazards.
Monitor and authorize the entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and others to maintain premises security.
Patrol premises to prevent and detect intrusions and ensure the security of doors, windows, and gates.
Respond to fires, natural disasters, and other hazardous events.
Write reports of daily activities and irregularities.
