About The Position

Advanced Professional Security (APS) is seeking a team of highly motivated, physically fit, and experienced armed professionals, or those who can become armed, to protect a residential community in a high-risk, high-visibility environment. This role demands a strong sense of responsibility, quick decision-making, and the ability to maintain a visible, professional presence in a challenging residential neighborhood. The ideal candidate is observant, composed under pressure, physically fit, professional, possesses unwavering integrity and self-discipline, and has strong written and verbal communication skills.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 2 years in security or law enforcement; prior experience in a tough or high-crime neighborhood is a plus.
  • Valid firearms permit
  • Current Denver Security Guard License
  • Knowledge of local laws and regulations.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in English written or oral form as well as speak and comprehend English without translation.
  • Ability to maintain a calm, professional demeanor in high-stress situations; discretion in handling sensitive information.
  • Must be neat, well-groomed and have a professional appearance.
  • Able to meet any special qualifications set forth in post orders or other relevant protocols and directives.
  • Must be at least 26 years of age for insurance purposes.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Denver Guard Card.
  • Ability to stand and walk up to 8-hours.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular foot, vehicle, or combined patrols of assigned areas to detect and deter criminal activity, vandalism, and unauthorized access.
  • Respond promptly to disturbances, threats, or emergencies; engage with offenders if necessary, using firearms only in extreme duress after non-violent options have been exhausted.
  • Communicate with local police, fire, and EMS; provide incident reports and coordinate with authorities.
  • Prepare detailed daily reports on patrols, incidents, equipment checks, and notable observations, including photos and video.
  • Ensure firearms, detection devices, and security gear are in proper working order.
  • Interact professionally with residents and visitors to de-escalate tensions and maintain order.
  • Identify and report potential security threats; recommend preventive measures to leadership.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
