Armed School Security Officer — Bluffton, SC
About The Position
Coastal Security Services, Inc. (CSSI) is seeking a full-time Armed School Security Officer to provide security at school campuses in the Bluffton, SC area. The officer will be responsible for helping maintain a safe and secure learning environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This role requires a professional, alert, and approachable individual who understands the unique responsibilities of working in a school setting. The position follows the school calendar with a consistent Monday-through-Friday schedule during school hours, with summers, school holidays, and breaks following the district schedule.
Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Must possess or be able to obtain a SC SLED Armed Security Officer Registration
- Clean criminal background — must pass SLED background check and school district screening
- Valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation
- Must reside in or be willing to commute to the Bluffton, SC area
- Availability to work Monday through Friday during school hours
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Professional demeanor and composure under pressure
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and perform foot patrols
- High school diploma or GED
Nice To Haves
- Prior law enforcement, military, or security experience
- School or campus security experience
- Crisis intervention or de-escalation training
- Familiarity with access control systems, CCTV, and incident reporting
Responsibilities
- Provide armed security coverage at assigned school campus(es)
- Monitor access points and control entry to school buildings and grounds
- Conduct foot and vehicle patrols of buildings, parking areas, and perimeters
- Monitor CCTV and alarm systems as applicable
- Maintain accurate daily activity reports and incident documentation
- Serve as a visible, professional security presence on campus
