About The Position

We are seeking a highly professional Armed (Commissioned) Security Officer to support museum operations in Houston, TX. This is a high-visibility, customer-facing role requiring strong communication skills, operational discipline, and the ability to perform effectively in dynamic environments, including extended shifts and special event coverage. The ideal candidate demonstrates maturity, reliability, and sound judgment, while maintaining a strong security presence and delivering excellent customer service.

Requirements

  • Valid Texas Level III Commissioned Security Officer License (required)
  • Valid and active Texas Driver’s License
  • Minimum age: 21 years old
  • Must meet all state and company armed security requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a commissioned (armed) security officer
  • Demonstrated success in professional security operations and client interaction
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and walk long distances
  • Capable of working 12-hour shifts and extended hours
  • Ability to safely operate vehicles when required
  • Willingness to respond to last-minute scheduling needs
  • Strong customer service orientation with a professional demeanor
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact confidently with visitors, clients, and staff
  • Proficient with smartphone-based reporting systems
  • Ability to complete timely, accurate incident reports via mobile applications
  • High level of integrity, accountability, and situational awareness
  • Maintains a strong command presence appropriate for armed security
  • Reliable with a proven attendance and performance record
  • Must have open availability and flexibility to work: 12-hour shifts, Overtime as needed, Weekends and holidays, Special events (mandatory participation)
  • Ability to support rotating schedules and last-minute operational needs
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Must pass background screening and any applicable drug screening
  • Must maintain licensing and certifications throughout employment

Responsibilities

  • Provide a safe and secure environment for visitors, staff, and property
  • Maintain a professional, visible presence while acting as a deterrent
  • Monitor premises, patrol assigned areas, and respond to incidents
  • Deliver exceptional customer service in a culturally rich, public-facing environment
  • Complete accurate and detailed incident reports using mobile reporting tools
  • Support special events, high-traffic periods, and VIP functions
  • Operate company/client vehicles when required
  • Follow all post orders, policies, and procedures with strict adherence
