About The Position

The Memphis Grizzlies are seeking an Arena Operations & Facilities Intern eager to learn the behind-the-scenes operations of a world-class sports and entertainment venue. This role provides hands-on exposure to event execution, facility management, and operational coordination, supporting the day-to-day operations of FedExForum. The intern will work closely with Arena Operations leadership and cross-functional teams to support games, concerts, special events, and facility projects. This one-year internship is designed to build practical experience and develop foundational skills for a career in arena management, venue operations, or live event production. The role is ideal for someone organized, curious, and energized by a fast-paced environment with varied daily tasks, offering meaningful learning, visibility, and real-world experience.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize work while meeting deadlines.
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Strong customer service focus with attention to detail and quality.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.
  • Basic computer proficiency.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD is a plus.
  • Interest in sports, live entertainment, or venue operations.
  • Knowledge of and passion for NBA basketball.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day support within the Arena Operations Department for all events, games, and arena functions.
  • Assist with arena setup, breakdown, and conversions to ensure event readiness.
  • Support coordination with internal departments to meet operational requirements for events and facility needs.
  • Observe and support real-time decision-making during events alongside Arena Operations leadership.
  • Gain exposure to the roles and responsibilities of multiple arena departments.
  • Develop and maintain event-related documents used to communicate operational needs with arena departments.
  • Assist with preparing post-event summaries, reports, and operational correspondence.
  • Help track timelines, tasks, and follow-ups for special projects and events.
  • Assist with coordination of facility and construction projects as assigned.
  • Act as a liaison to contractors by providing information and administrative support.
  • Help monitor project requirements, timelines, and operational considerations tied to arena use.
  • Build an understanding of large-scale venue operations, event execution, and facility management.
  • Gain hands-on experience in a live sports and entertainment environment.
  • Take on additional duties as assigned to support Arena Operations initiatives.
