About The Position

The Area Supervisor will be responsible for monitoring tickets throughout each day on the Northern Lights portal and trading/moving them as needed to accommodate volume and efficiency. This role involves locating in a designated area or where help is needed to regulate volume and maintain customer quality. The supervisor will also assist with monthly field and computer audits, monitor hours through Clock Shark, and thoroughly read and respond to emails. They must be available 24/7 for assistance, supervise locators, handle personnel issues with management and HR support, and review/approve timecards. Additionally, the Area Supervisor will coordinate vacation schedules, support team members, maintain morale, determine locator working hours to manage ticket volume, assist with difficult locates, be responsible for equipment calibration and documentation, handle initial documentation for damage reports, train new locators, and support safety initiatives.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Expertise in the locating industry.
  • Ability to maintain a consistent teamwork mentality.
  • Knowledge of Northern Lights policies.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to pass a drug screen.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to obtain a DOT physical certification.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring tickets throughout each day on the Northern Lights portal and trading/moving them as needed to accommodate volume and efficiency.
  • Locating in a designated area or where help is needed to regulate volume and maintain customer quality.
  • Assisting with monthly field and computer audits as directed by the Regional Supervisor.
  • Monitoring hours through Clock Shark each day.
  • Thoroughly reading emails, checking emails/text messages often, acknowledging and following up on emails.
  • Being available 24/7 with assistance.
  • Supervising locators and handling personnel issues with assistance from management and HR.
  • Timecard review and approval Sunday evenings via email to the Regional Supervisor.
  • Coordination of vacation schedules.
  • Supporting team members with daily issues/concerns.
  • Maintaining and boosting morale with locators in the field.
  • Locating in areas that need assistance or troubled specific locates.
  • Determining the working hours of locators so that ticket volume can be managed.
  • Assisting with shooting difficult locates – “schedule and assist with Meet-up”.
  • Responsible for equipment calibration and documentation of calibration.
  • First level – damage/damage reports initial documentation.
  • Training new locators.
  • Supporting safety initiatives per company policy.
