About The Position

Lakeside HR Group has been engaged by our client to recruit an Area Sales Manager to support market development and sales efforts within the construction industry. Our client is a growing organization that supplies high-quality building materials to residential builders, contractors, and property managers. This role is responsible for developing new business, retaining and growing existing customer relationships, and leading sales efforts focused on single-family and multifamily construction projects. The Area Sales Manager works closely with inside sales and operational partners to drive revenue, manage bids, and ensure successful project execution.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of field sales experience within the construction or building materials industry
  • Strong knowledge of residential and multifamily construction markets
  • Proven ability to build rapport and develop new customer relationships
  • Experience with project-based selling and bidding environments
  • Excellent organization, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating cross-functionally

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Supervisory or team leadership experience a plus
  • Kitchen and bath or interior finish experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute sales strategies to meet or exceed revenue targets
  • Identify, pursue, and secure new customer relationships through outreach, meetings, and industry engagement
  • Grow existing accounts by cross-selling additional product lines
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activity, pipeline, and customer interactions
  • Stay current on industry trends, products, and competitive landscape
  • Attend industry events and trade shows to build relationships and generate leads
  • Retain and service existing builder, contractor, and property management accounts
  • Serve as a trusted partner to customers throughout the sales and project lifecycle
  • Make formal requests for product inclusion in architectural specifications
  • Review architectural plans and specifications to recommend products
  • Coordinate with suppliers to secure pricing
  • Prepare, submit, and follow up on formal bids, clearly communicating value
  • Review purchase orders and contracts for accuracy and completeness
  • Coordinate product orders, submittments, and scheduled deliveries
  • Collaborate with operations to support job site execution
  • Monitor project progress, documentation, costs, and profitability
  • Establish sales goals and performance metrics
  • Support and collaborate with inside product specialists and cross-functional partners
  • Align with operations, purchasing, and marketing teams to ensure customer satisfaction
