About The Position

Brayman Construction is hiring a full-time Area Safety Representative to join our growing team. This position is based in Saxonburg, PA, with assignments on projects throughout the Pittsburgh region. The role will initially be assigned to a project in Cincinnati, OH, for eight months before returning to the Pittsburgh area. This Area Safety Representative position earns a competitive salary. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN AREA SAFETY REPRESENTATIVE The Area Safety Representative will foster and maintain a proactive approach to safety, promoting an employee-centered safety culture. Reporting directly to the Corporate Safety Director, this role will support and assist the field workforce by conducting safety training, assessing jobsites for hazards, and implementing corrective measures.

Requirements

  • Detail-oriented, excellent communicator with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and take initiative
  • Willing to accept travel to the job sites
  • Comfortable working/teaching knowledge of the following: Hazard Communication, Use of P.P.E., First-Aid/CPR & AED, Trench Shoring, Confined Space, Respiratory Protection, Fall Protection, Blood Borne Pathogens, OSHA Regulations, Forklift, Silica, and Mobile Cranes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel), PowerPoint, and other related computer software

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of safety experience in the general construction industry, preferably civil infrastructure and heavy highway construction or BS in Safety with 3 years of relevant experience
  • 30-hour OSHA Construction safety class or its equivalent
  • OSHA 500 Trainer and First Aid CPR Instructor preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct new employee orientations and ensure compliance with site drug testing program
  • Develop and conduct training as needed at the project, including, but not limited to, fall protection, confined space, personal protective equipment, first aid/CPR, signal person, and Hazard Communication
  • Write review and modify site-specific safety policies and procedures
  • Ensure jobsite compliance with Federal, State, and Local Regulations as well as Corporate Policies and Procedures
  • Lead incident investigation efforts & document findings, and assist in developing lessons learned to help prevent recurrence.
  • Job site safety inspections (inspection of power tools, cords, hazards, etc.)
  • PPE inspections, order, replace, and administer training
