The Area Safety Manager assists in the implementation, coordination, auditing, and support of the Company's safety and compliance initiatives relating to various federal, state, and local agencies. This role promotes and develops safe work behaviors, assists and coaches in reducing injuries and vehicle accidents, and plans, administers, and supports ongoing safety programs to advance and support compliance. The Area Safety Manager liaises between facilities and internal/external auditors, interprets Safety Policies, Regulations, and Standards to recommend or provide direction, and partners with branch locations to maintain current standards with regulations concerning DOT, OSHA, EPA, and the FDA. This role is also responsible for implementing procedures and supporting related documentation, and assists in conducting audits of all governmental disciplines by collaborating to ensure that required documents, training, and safety measures are in place. The Area Safety Manager forwards findings to their supervisor for appropriate corrective action, schedules and organizes the training schedule for the area driver trainer, and plans IH, ergonomic, and risk assessment surveys or analysis. They assure all applicable training is performed at all locations, meet all compliance and reporting requirements of Federal and State regulations through shared alignment, and assist the Director of Safety and Compliance in month-end safety meetings and data/presentations, which also include compliance presentations at branches, plants, and customer locations. Additionally, this role assists in creating training development (videos, PowerPoint), setting up and maintaining all permits, maintaining location files, and updating medical manuals, procedures, and supporting documentation. The Area Safety Manager also serves as a collaborative member of the hazard assessment team.
